Our Story

Finding Inspiration in Every Battle

In March 2009, I lost my Jack Russell Terrier, Scooter, to cancer. I had rescued him 3 years earlier at 8 years old. He wasn't 'just a dog', he was my family. After 5 months of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries he passed away. My heart was shattered.

Through that loss, I started to think of ways to help dogs and their families with their canine cancer journey.

Life moved on and I adopted another Jack Russell Terrier, Brody. He was affectionatly known as BroDog or Bro. I had the privilege of being his mom for 9 years before he too was diagnosed with cancer. This was a different cancer that afflicted Scooter. I once again went to every length to save my BroDog. After seeing multiple specialists, they all said the same thing - there were no options. His cancer was bad and he had about a month to live. Thirty-four days later, he passed away.

Once again I was left shattered, vowing to never own another dog again. The heartbreak was unbearable.

The tug I felt on my heart to help dogs with cancer had grown stronger and that is how Bro & Scooter Co. was born. With every purchase a portion of the sale goes into our scholarship funds that help pet parents get the necessary funding to ensure their dog receives the care and diagnostics it needs for a comfortable journey and / or recovery.

We have two scholarship options available - The Scooter Scholarship and The Brody Benefit. Beginning in March 2023, pet parents will be able to apply for both scholarships if needed. More details will be posted soon on our Canine Cancer page.
